Bisbeeland is a place in the heart that nothing can take once you experience it. It consists of the love both my parents gave to me and my three siblings and a touch of Disneyland.
My Mom would dress us all alike and take us to Disneyland. My Dad would wake us up early in the morning. The energy in the house the day before going would be intense. My Dad would make sure he had the cash and the A,B,C,D, and if any E tickets we had left over from last time. My Mom would be in charge of snacks and anything that four young kids would need to make it through the day.
We would arrive before the park opened and would leave when they closed. Thereby maximizing the experience. You might think that this would scar us for life. But quite the opposite we all love Disneyland. Why??? Because my Mom and Dad would make it amazing. I guess it might also be because for the first time in my life, my folks would ask what we, the kids, wanted to do next and then amazingly listen and do that!!! It was unheard of. It was truly a family day that everybody participated in.
When we did most anything else as a family my folks had a plan that really did not require any input from us. I don't fault them for this you had to have a plan when there are four kids. We took a couple trips across the country in a station wagon and I have fond memories of that too. But where to eat, stay, do or get gas was not something they asked us about.
So in the late 60's or early 70's Bisbeeland was born. I had a great childhood with wonderful parents. I am actually still hanging on to my childhood.
